breathe

i can
breathe the breath you just breathed
and feel it pass through
my bloodstream
as surely
and as fully
as if it were my own

  1. This is a connection we simply never really consider. As disconnected as we can be - as intimate as we sometimes are - we are always connected through the very air we breathe...it was always here and ever shall be.

  2. This reminds me of artwork that I saw in Dublin, several years ago. There were photographs of forest ... and lingering breath.
    Intriguing.

  3. I love the idea of sharing air/breath with you, Steven. Though somewhat far away from each other in terms of space, I still like it that we breathe from the same ocean of air.

  6. rick there are layers of our experiencing that we overlook - not out of disconnectedness to them as much as they hover in that space that doesn't require our attention. i like yoga for that - it reminds me of the physical and then the otherness that defines my body and my self. steven

  8. Sharing breath with family and friends; the question has to be is it the same as sharing breath with strangers?
The combined photos and words create a beautiful blog. Back very soon.

  9. walt whitman's song of myself:

    i celebrate myself,
and what i assume you shall assume,
for every atom belonging to me as good belongs to you.

i just began reading this last night. i have only ever read his sing the body electric, as though that were enough truth for one man to expouse.
