a thousand waves

the sky is cloudless
there is no wind

a thousand waves
gather
in the stillness
of the shoreline ice

  2. I love this 'cluster of words' - yes, that is how I would describe them, frozen together as is the ice on the shore.

A poetic start to the day for me. Poetry makes me so happy. Thank you for your poetry.

  10. aguja - you're welcome of course! i watched a few dozen small wavelets come ashore and each left a little of itself in this emerging ice-sculpture. steven

  11. valerie thankyou. i'm glad that even though it's a chilly picture and england is suffering in the cold that you are able to see the prettiness. steven

  12. pauline - i've often wondered about a stop action film of a scene just like this (and many others). i don't know if it would be tedious or incredible. steven

  18. reya - there are spaces in winter that are entirely still. find the space. occupy it. become it. i know that there's peacefulness in other seasons but stillness. that's a sweet gift! thanks for the props. steven

  19. I wonder how many little creatures hide in the sand under those frozen bubbles, seeking protection from winter? Again..... it supposedly takes up to 400 years for water droplets to gather in Lake Ontario from Lake Superior, so perhaps those frozen bubbles carry DNA samples from Samuel de Champlain or the voyagers. Thousands of waves from thousands of places.... who knows what's collected in that transparent sculpture?
    I missed this Steven! =D

  20. linda thanks for that. i hadn't thought about the very tiny trillions of very tiny creatures not to mention the not so tiny creatures who are tucked away against the winter under the pebbles and sand and then also inside the ice which when i got really close, was peppered with all sorts of stuff. all colours. steven

  21. Fantastic! These photos just thrill me with the idea of relenting waves in a freeze frame of time....

The poem is a perfect companion to the photos.
