following a worn and fractured canyon
i got caught in the lift and tread of my feet
until finally emerging into
a peninsula of light
i heard the mumbled beginnings
of a tale of tales
worn bare
through their retelling
and i listened to the old stories
all the same
because
they pointed the way
past serpents bent on devouring
whatever was handy
and especially because
i have always wanted to find
the golden icicle cave
which as everyone knows
is where the real treasures are kept
The golden icicle cave looks wonderful. Guess it was hard to tear yourself away.

ReplyDeletelinda sue that's the light . . . today there was scads and oddles of it. other days not so much but in the mid-winter the light can be clean as glass. the leaves in the hader- yeah i figured people would either see a broken heart or an open heart. i'm glad te open heart shines through. it's what i saw. steven
