little red leaf

i'm entranced by the lush greenery of a warm and humid summer

the little red treasures that are appearing, capture my attention if not my imagination

it's a subtle beauty that compels me to stop and get off my bike.
first to admire and then to photograph

this little red leaf
caught me fully unawares
as i rode past it
and
like the glance
across a room
that ignites a lifetime
and lives beyond itself
i was compelled to go back

  1. What an extraordinary red leaf. It's amazing that one should lead the pack at the turn of the seasons.

  2. Hi Steven, isn't it wonderful the way the contrast of red against so much green draws our eye? Wonderful that you stopped to catch the moment.

  9. joanne - i love colour, especially in the natural world. it's hard to explain why but i am drawn to it and i've learned to bicycle despite the attraction - well actually - to incorporate my admiration of the natural beauty around me with the need to live!! steven

  14. golden west - the skies are whispering autumn and the wind that is whistling through the little spaces 'round the windows is less than summery. it's all good though - we've had a glorious summer and autumn is very welcome 'round here. steven
