sun sets

there is no more wonderful way
in which to say goodnight to the world
than to share in the silent celebration
that is a sunset

  1. I love experiencing a sunset. They are always different, often dynamic, and always calming.

  3. Sunsets remind me of a warm embrace against the cold and a turning away from the light. Thanks, Steven.

  4. Millions of people have the attraction to sunsets, and rightly so. There is a warmth and beauty that only is in a sunset. It is a shout out to all who will listen that there are glorious sights at no charge.

  5. Yes, calming, deep breath, stillness, sundown, into the sea, behind the landscape, can't be seen but is still there, bits of colour linger...just like people- and death, which ,it seems, is not final.

  6. hi annie - there's a special kind of quiet. i love the afterglow the most with its colourful flares and then the gradually fade into pastel softness. steven

  8. elisabeth i really appreciated the spread of the sun across the sea. i usually see them from my home or at best across fields. the expanse adds something really magical to the experience for me. steven

  11. mmmm, very true! I have to make an effort to see them these days - a walk up the road to the spectacular views. I don't do it enough... oceans of my youth held amazing sunset gifts.... now I have moonrises.

  12. Hi Steven,
I always wait for the afterglow, and if I have a camera, like you, I try to capture it. I learned from my husband to wait for the clouds to light up, once the sun has gone down.
