it ain't easy

and now for a musical interlude . . . .

it ain't easy

i know, i know, i know you
i know you know you know me too

so, when the sun went down
and i lost your eyes
i prayed to God let the light
shine off you again
it ain't easy leavin' you

without a sound
i remove your crown
your green dress glows
as the stars go round
i pray to God let the darkness
cheat the dawning light

so, when the sun went down
and i lost your eyes
i prayed to God let the light
shine off you again
it ain't easy leavin you

i know, i know, i know you
i know you know you know me too

  6. I LOVE Abigail Washburn!! On her album Song of the Traveling Daughter I am always haunted by the song Momma. It is the part in the lyrics when she says "...truth is a dreadful beauty...." I love it!!
I seem to be stuck on this one album though. I will try branching out a bit. Thanks!!!

  7. hi barry - it's cool to think of the paths that cross and meet again. think of all the people who have stood on the ferry braving the wind, staring at those gorgeous crags, the impossible green, the closing shoreline. have a peaceful day. steven

  8. hi jenny stevning . . . for the longest time the only female singers i could listen to were joni mitchell - anything up to about 1977 - judy collins, judy dyble (i guess any woman whose name began with a "j"!!!) and very few others. i don't know what changed in me but now i prefer women's voices to men's. abigail is such an insightful talented musician it doesn't surprise me you like her as well!!!! have a peaceful saturday. steven

  17. Hi Steven~ I'm new to Abigail Washburn and the Sparrow Quartet, and I can't thank you enough for introducing them. So beautiful! (I'm not quite sure why they had to break up; they seemed like a good couple.) I loved that pristine beach, and then a fisherman appears out on a rock, and at the end there's a mauve ray from the sun matching the deck chairs on the boat. Really lovely. The sound is simple yet profound and moving.
