I LOVE Abigail Washburn!! On her album Song of the Traveling Daughter I am always haunted by the song Momma. It is the part in the lyrics when she says "...truth is a dreadful beauty...." I love it!!

ReplyDeletehi jenny stevning . . . for the longest time the only female singers i could listen to were joni mitchell - anything up to about 1977 - judy collins, judy dyble (i guess any woman whose name began with a "j"!!!) and very few others. i don't know what changed in me but now i prefer women's voices to men's. abigail is such an insightful talented musician it doesn't surprise me you like her as well!!!! have a peaceful saturday. steven

ReplyDeleteHi Steven~ I'm new to Abigail Washburn and the Sparrow Quartet, and I can't thank you enough for introducing them. So beautiful! (I'm not quite sure why they had to break up; they seemed like a good couple.) I loved that pristine beach, and then a fisherman appears out on a rock, and at the end there's a mauve ray from the sun matching the deck chairs on the boat. Really lovely. The sound is simple yet profound and moving.
